I've input the results of this weekend's games into my spreadsheets, but as you probably know, the formulas won't calculate (at all) without a certain minimum amount of data, and we're not there yet. I anticipate that my Beta (W/L) ratings should be producing mathematically meaningful results after next week's games. The Classic ratings should be ready a week or two later. In neither case will the ratings produced in early weeks be good—it will take a while for all the noise to settle out.
I was going to try to unveil a Beta (MOV)-type rating system this season, but I couldn't get one that I was very happy with. I kept getting Auburn ranked about fifth at the end of last season. That wasn't going to cut it.
I start getting antsy for college football every year around the end of July. I'm glad it's back.
